VENICE, ITALY - 29 MAY 2013: Ragnar Kjartansson's ""SS Hangover" (2013) - Boat, captain, brass instruments, musicians and music by Kyarta Sveinsson - navigates in the Gaggiandre, a docking in the XVI century shipyards of the Arsenale, in Venice, Italy, on May 29th 20113.
Ragnar Kjartansson has turned an old, wooden Icelandic fishing boat into the S.S. Hangover, a vessel he named after a boat-shaped bar featured in the 1935 mystery comedy film "Remember Last Night?". In the Gaggiandre, a docking area in the XVI century shipyards of the Arsenale, Kjartansson stages a performance featuring a crew of professional musicians who play while ferrying the boat back and forth from one dock to the next in a procession that alludes to the XVI Venetian tradition of Theatres of the World.
The 55th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale takes place in Venice from June 1st to November 24th, 2013 at the Giardini and at the Arsenale as well as in various venues the city.
